Voted Best European Indie Magazine for 2023 at European Publishing Congress, and four times Best Coffee Magazine at The Sprudgie Awards, Standart is a well-curated, quarterly print publication that explores the beauty and diversity of coffee culture. It started with a simple goal in mind: to celebrate the culture of specialty coffee through a marriage of great writing and beautiful design.

Standart Issue 37 explores what happens when that dark little drink begins to weave its way into your dreams.

This issue is inspired by the unreal, the obscure, and the imaginary. For this issue’s cover series, we’ve woven a dreamlike narrative following our protagonist’s journey: traveling through nature, venturing into the night, and ultimately discovering a table where coffee awaits in a surreal, otherworldly setting.

Photographer Lukasz Wierzbowski blurred the line between the familiar and the fantastical, inviting you to explore new issue and see how curiosity and a good cup of coffee—can connect even the most distant and obscure threads. In his own words:

“Coffee has the power to bring comfort wherever we are—even when the car breaks down (which actually happened during the shoot) or when the weather is less than ideal (the rain scenes were partially shot during a real storm). For a brief moment, coffee made everything feel like it’s exactly where it’s meant to be.”
